Go Game Crazy ... For Cash!
By Robert Barnard
We want to know if you're "game crazy" too. (Maybe we should just ask you if you're crazy?) We certainly feel like we are - some days more than others.

Although "Game Crazy" is the name of a large gaming store, that's not what we're referring to specifically. What we're talking about is being addicted to, buying the minute they hit the marketplace and playing video games an excessive number of hours each day. Hey, maybe we should start a rehab place for addicted gamers? Ah, maybe not.

Video gamers are as nuts about their video games as DVD-aholics are about their movie collections. And just as movie subjects run the gamut from educational topics to action-packed spy movies to adult themes and psychological thrillers - gamers have nearly the same range of games to choose from. There are games that are educational and appropriate for kids to play, and games that are completely wrong for youngsters. Heck, there are games that are completely wrong for oldsters, for that matter.

And speaking of kids, let me digress here for a moment. I'm sure you've heard of the MPAA - the agency that issues ratings for movies - from PG to NC-17 and the like. Gamer have a similar organization - the ESRB (Entertainment Software Rating Board) - that rates games - so if you're interested in trading off some of those kid's games that they've outgrown, it is an easy task to find new games that are rated appropriately for the kids.

This rating system actually has two components - first you should check out the rating symbols on the front of the box - that's to determine the age appropriateness for that particular game. Next, find the content descriptors on the back of the box - that will tell you about any content in the that you should be concerned about, such as violence, immoral behavior or poor role models (like good guys that rob and steal) - stuff like that.

Gamers have the same options for reselling or trading those old, outgrown or stale games as DVD owners do - there are a variety of ways that you can recycle that collection. For example, Media Exchange 123 (mx123.com) offers the most money for selling or trading your games online. The procedure is pretty much the same as when you're selling a DVD, or a collection

of DVD's - you simply look up the title of the and cross check it with the UPC code to make sure you've got the right one. You'll then get a quote for that particular game, or your entire collection, if that's what you want to sell or trade. Send it, or them, in and receive your check in the mail - or get paid via your Paypal account if you have one. Simple, there are also companies like Game Stop and Game Crazy that offer similar selections.

And it's not just one particular that you can resell or trade - this deal encompasses every type of console from those that play on Sony Playstations to Nintendo Game Cube to Microsoft's Xbox or Xbox 360. We're sure the gamer in your household already knows the difference between the different types of consoles, but in case you don't - each manufacturer and software developer has come up with games that play on a particular console. For example, there are games that only play on Sony's Playstation (in whatever version you have - PS1, PS2 or PS3) - as well as games that play on the Nintendo Game Cube or Gameboy Advance or Microsoft Xbox or Xbox 360. Each console has a plethora of games available - so shop till you drop … or trade till you fade!
